About Jim Thomas

In 2016, at 40-years-of-age, I launched my first Amazon private label product.

Over the next 5 years, I developed my Amazon skillset with all manner of false starts and steep learning curves, but eventually grew my store to $1.6m in revenue.

I did this on a very part-time basis, while I focused on my full-time role as a Senior IT Executive, leading global IT teams for a US based fortune 500 company.

In 2021, I sold my private label store to an aggregator and promptly retired at 45 years-of-age.

What exactly is the ‘Cohort Program’?

The value of this program is the tight knit “Small Group” approach to our program, where you get to know and build relationships with the 10-12 members of your “Cohort” – other experienced sellers who you will get to know – learning each others personalities, backgrounds, goals, family, and etc – building trust and lifelong friendships!

The intimate nature of the small group allows for relationships which can be immensely valuable in development of your brands. First, you are able to get valuable advice and honest feedback, as members have your best interests in-mind. Next, as you share your goals with the group, they will help hold you accountable, as you will not want to report-back to your friends that you failed to follow-through on plans and commitments which you made.

What topics are taught / covered in the Program?

The program is agile and focused on helping you level-up!  We focus intensely on execution – goals, habits and routines.  We help you build your “machines” – systems, procedures and a team which can scale larger than you can by yourself.  We study our framework for productivity, while diving deep on topics specific to selling on Amazon, including: AMS / Paid ads, driving outside traffic, conversions, KPI’s, tools, bookkeeping, protecting intellectual property, building a following, partnering, operations excellence, and preparing for a sale.

What are the minimum requirements to become a member?

The program is for experienced Amazon sellers, focused on growing Private Label brands – we are not accepting inexperienced sellers. Members must have annual revenue of at least $300K, which could include another model (OA, WS) – as long as the primary focus is learning Private Label.

How many members are there in each ‘Cohort’ group?

Groups are small and intimate, to help facilitate close relationships and trust – no more than 12 members. 

How much does the “Cohort Program” cost?

The program is being offered initially at $350 per month. New members are still being grandfathered at this price, as we are preparing to increase costs in the next quarter.

Is there any long term commitment required as a member of the ‘Cohort Program’?

No, I feel that if a program delivers clear value, it shouldn’t need to lock members into an agreement. Many members have been in the program since the beginning – for 2+ years! Membership is on a month-to-month basis – cancel anytime, for any reason.

How often do I meet with my ‘Cohort’?

Sessions will occur weekly via Zoom video call. Additionally, between sessions we communicate through our online community.

What’s the format / agenda of the ‘Cohort’ meetings?

The sessions are 1 hour each week. We kick-off with a brief accountability review – discussing progress for the prior week and goals for the next week. Then, we cover a core topic, which rotates each week and includes roundtable discussions, guest speakers, member “hot seat sessions”, goal setting, Quarterly “Board of Advisors” review sessions and topic deep dives.

Are there any guest speakers, experts, etc?

Yes, we have guest speakers periodically.  Though, this group is not focused on “tactics” – topics of speakers tend to be broader in nature and focused on building the businesses and business leaders.

Are there any local meetups?

The community is a huge bonus with the progream.  Members get an opportunity to meet with a group of friends for 1 hour every week.  While we don’t have any formal local meetups at this time, members are encouraged to meet when possible, and build upon the friendships. Many cohort members have met at conferences and during vacation travels.
